It’s a WIN for The Inn!

Scotland’s Community Inn of the Year

A fantastic achievement for everyone involved in making the Inn at Kingsbarns a success! The Inn’s General Manager Mark Lewis and Head Chef Allan attended the award ceremony on 26th Feb 2025, which was opened by Scottish Tourism Minister Richard Lochhead MSP.

Mark commented, ‘To be recognised at a national level after only eight months as a community run effort is incredibly rewarding. It wouldn’t have happened without the hard work and dedication of the team, including a very loyal band of community volunteers and committed staff, so we want to take this as an opportunity to say thank you to everybody who has made this possible!’

‘We look forward to welcoming you to Scotland’s Community Inn of the Year soon!’

Nomination for Community Inn of the Year!

Some great news just in! The Inn at Kingsbarns is a nominated finalist for two awards. Community Hotel/Inn of the Year, Village Inn of the year.  Plus Chef Allan, is also a finalist for the Chef Honour award. The awards are part of the Hotels of the Year Scotland 2025 awards.

The nominations have come from a highly experienced and connected team of travel writers, general managers, chefs, and tourism chiefs.

The award nominations are a recognition of what has been achieved by everyone involved in making the The Inn at Kingsbarns a thriving community hub and pub. The next stage will be an assessment of the finalists with a visit ahead of the awards night at the grand gala dinner on 26th February at the Crown Plaza SEC Glasgow.

We are pleased to report the Share Offer did well and whilst it closed at the end of August, we plan to reopen the share offer following the Kingsbarns Community Benefit Society AGM on Saturday 2 Nov 2024.

Meanwhile, the good news is we’re busy, and feedback regarding the bar, accommodation, and food, has been positive!  The food menu is extremely popular 😊 and a ‘light lunch’ menu is available too.

Community events are already underway, pub quizzes and open mic nights topping the bill. Watch this space and The Inn at Kingsbarns website for more event info.

Successful Crowdfunder now closed

The fundraising Crowdfunder campaign has now ended but the video is still below for anyone to enjoy.

Crowdfunder is now closed

Given the community buyout of the Inn at Kingsbarns is now complete, fully operational and successful, we are closing the Crowdfunder, which played an important role in enabling the community buyout to happen.

We would like to thank you for your most generous support.  Thanks to you, The Inn at Kingsbarns has a bright future and will continue to play an important role for the whole community.

Informal Shareholder Meeting

Kingsbarns Community Benefit Society (KCBS) invited shareholders (those who have purchased community shares), to attend an informal shareholder meeting at the Memorial Hall on Saturday 14 September, to find out more about the community owned Inn at Kingsbarns, how it was performing to date, and to give people an opportunity to network and get to know each other.

A record of the meeting can be found here.

Sold! The Inn at Kingsbarns is Community Owned

The wait is over and Kingsbarns now has its very own Community Pub! It’s an exciting milestone for Kingsbarns and will present a wealth of opportunities for the community as it develops into a ‘hub’ in the coming months and years.

The Inn is under new management with Mark Lewis at the helm.  Mark has a wealth of experience in hospitality and is looking forward to welcoming the lovely folks of Kingsbarns to The Inn.  We are also delighted that Anne Ramsay, a familiar and friendly face of The Inn, will continue to work in the pub alongside Mark, and will be instrumental in ensuring operations run smoothly during the transition phase to community ownership.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Annette, Maxx, and the team, for their help, support and patience throughout the process.

As you can imagine, we have a lot do during this phase and whilst we are excited about having an ‘official’ launch party soon, we will be taking things one step at a time over the next week or two, just to get us up to speed with operations and staffing.  We also have an amazing team of volunteers, who will help accelerate this process.

However, we are very much open for business so why not pop in for a drink and say hello to Mark, Anne, and the team. You’ll be most welcome, and please bear with us as we find our feet.

Thanks again to all of you for your help and support thus far!  The community should be proud of this phenomenal achievement 👏👏🍾

P.S. Remember, if you’d like a member of the KCDT to visit you and talk about the Inn in more detail, or if you just need a quick answer to any queries you may have, please call Sue on 01334 880317 or send an email to: suejenkins27@hotmail.com
